Typing Dvorak ONE HANDED is simply COOL!

I have undergone severe training and adaptation of Dvorak(Simplified two handed layout) and discovered the single hand typing alternative Dvorak Left/Right handed layout. Since I have two (currently still healthy) hands, I did not even think of glancing the construction of the "disabled" layout.

During researching on keyboard layouts,  I discovered some funny new inventions such as Frogpad, Half qwerty, Single handed maltron and Fitaly layout. It stimulates my desire to look for typing one handed which allow me to free the other hand for multitasking or simply let one hand idle for mouse pointing.

With two weeks of Dvorak lefty training, I managed to type primevally such as googling keywords and typing short message and email. I don't know if I am the only person who found the single handed layout useful to daily purpose?

this is how one can type with only the left hand. i can hold a smart-phone on right hand to take photo while i am still typing with my left hand. the problem is the shift key is too far away from the alphabet!

Swinging your hand is inevitable for pressing the "shift" placed too far away from the "home key"!

This was my problem with the dvorak one handed keyboard too. I used it for a couple weeks but then found that my hand would have to go too far from the home-row and often found myself looking down to reposition it.
This is why i think chording is a better solution for a one handed keyboard; especially when keys are placed far apart.

Why don't you get a footswitch? I type regular 2-handed dvorak, and still use a footswitch for the shift (also great for typing in CAPITAL LETTERS) on my Kinesis Advantage keyboard. Even if your keyboard doesn't accept keyswitches, there are standalone USB (there, utilizing the pedal again) foot switches that you can use to shift.
