Thanks a lot mate! The video gives a good idea of the sound, the model F makes a much more metallic noise. Doesn't sound very pleasant, probably will annoy people nearby more than a model M or a board with cherry blues :-)
It is a very loud keyboard. I personally like the sound (it has a lot more lower frequencies not captured in that video). But that's expected.
But it feels soo much better. More like a typewriter. The actuation is also lighter I believe.
That's a matter of taste. It depends if you like lighter or heavier keys. Model M is AT LEAST 50% more resistant than a Model F. That's what my fingers think. I personally like both.
If IBM made all the Model Ms like the Model Fs, no one would buy them due to the noise. People complain enough about Model Ms. Plus you have to be VERY light fingered not to bottom out. Heck, I bottom out on a Model M, let alone a Model F.
It would be very valuable to type on your model F and your model M in the same video, for comparison purposes. Is the model F really louder than the M ? There's no way I can type on my M while on the phone.
Model Fs are way louder than Ms. And it's a different sound. The Model M has more squeaks and spring "pops", whereas the Model F gains a lot of sound from the metal inside the board (clattery), and due to the fact there isn't a membrane; just capacitive switches which are seemingly loud.
I'd assume the rubber membrane dampens the noise in M.
