It's time to replace my 13 year old desk -- it's gravely worn out.

So I was looking around for a decent (plain!) computer desk. But it's quite hard to find one.
The keyboard tray should also support a model F terminal and a mouse, along with two monitors; and most don't.

Anyone around here know of a good computer desk?

In terms of colour; I only like black or dark grey for desks --> or glass is alright. I don't like white furniture as it'll blend in with the walls.
Keyboards: '86 M, M5-2, M13, SSK, F AT, F XT

I'm trying out a standing desk right now.

Science says you live longer if you sit less. I want to see if it helps with RSI, and burn more calories during the work day.

RSI prevention recipe:[/B] Kinesis Contoured, Colemak layout, touch typing, Contour Design Rollermouse,  Logitech TrackMan Wheel, Logitech m570 trackball, "workrave" break timer software, "awesome" window manager, tenkeyless boards, cherry browns, Wang 724 with "ghetto green" ALPS, standing desk and/or comfy adjustable chairs, stress reduction, computer time reduction.

Fun non-ergonomic things: bolt modded Model M Space Saving Keyboards with new springs, Kensington Expert Mouse v7, Unicomp Endurapro, Northgates

the fredrick does not compare to the ikea jerker.  its build quality is not nearly as nice.  i would check craigslist for an authentic jerker.  u can even make it a standing desk if u desire.  ikea jerker is legendary.

I just buy all my desks from IKEA. Yes I know they are pressboard, but they are sturdy and fully customizable. They are also dirt cheap, so I use the cheapest ones for my workbench (a few tied together) and the glasstop for my regular desk. Just look at IKEA.
Edit: Whoops... I also reccomend IKEA like simon_C and kill will. I did not read.

We've been thinking about that too at work.. how is it working out so far?

From what I've read, the best situation is a desk that can be used to sit or stand (expensive desks) since only standing isn't ideal either.

I'm currently trying a 'prototype' treadmill desk (screwed together some 2×4s). I find standing still becomes uncomfortable very quickly, but walking is fine.

Good! I'm at the standing desk now. It works.

For now I'm using a chair in the office, and standing when I work from home. Variety is ergonomic!

Anyhow, next desk will be a custom setup using Klee-Clamps and 3/4 Birch Plywood.

You are my new favorite person.  While the power has been out I've been designing a "pipe" desk and wondering where the hell I was going to get all the parts I needed.  Without the internet except at work, I hadn't done any searching yet.  :)

Now that I've been converted, there are only 2 desks in the world for me anymore. Jerker, and Galant. If you can't find a jerker, get to an Ikea (DONT BUY THIS ONLINE). I couldn't be happier with my galant. I made a nice long corner desk that is absolutely beautiful, and the sturdiest desk I've ever owned.

My son's room has an Ikea Stolmen system. It wasn't cheap, but it's attractive, versatile and well-made.

Once he moved out, I rearranged it into a very functional desk. I have pics somewhere, I'll try to post them later.

Here's a desk someone made: http://www.ikeahackers.net/2007/02/kais-sleek-stolmen-desk.html

The ones at the office come mainly from Ahrend (http://www.ahrend.com/smartsite.dws?id=60326&ch=COM&language=EN). No complaints, although some of the earlier desks I bought are definitely showing their age - but they have tolerated being taken apart several times for office moves. If you want something flexible, maybe worth looking at the Ahrend 750.

The one at home comes from a non-highfalutin' office supply company that does modular furniture. I got three corner pieces and four 59" desks to make a wraparound work area. It was pretty cheap - I got all that for under a thou and someone came to assemble it all. I've no serious complaints so far although TBH there's not a crapton of stuff up on the desks - but each desk segment has previously taken a tri-30"-config with no problems. Maybe worth checking out some office supply companies - OfficeMax? The nearest sort of equivalent I have would be something like the OfficeMax Bush OfficePro series.

Here's that pic of the Ikea Stolmen configured as a desk. If I was using it regularly, I would have mounted the monitors on a cross bar you can't see that runs over the monitors.

good lord, check out the building vid of that pipe desk
http://www.ronhazelton.com/projects/how_to_build_a_computer_work_station_from_pipe

I'm moving into a loft in the next couple of months.  The pipe concept would be perfect for the aesthetics of the place.  I wouldn't configure it like the video but the concepts are great.

fiance is off travelling, decided to clean up her desk a bit, redo wiring, here's what i do now, i buy 1$ tupperware and put all the wires in in it (it's sitting on top of the speaker if you look) looks nice, but more importantly it's easier to handle dust, which she is allergic to. Yea it's right off the edge of the bed, it's what she wanted, she said she didn't want a computer chair no more just have it right next to her bedside, i said ok. Her computer desk has all the connections too since her desk is near the outlet for cable, so the router/modem are there too (i've strapped the router to the side of the desk)

she's really dirty, this is the cleanest the desk is gonna be, it's gonna be filled with various coupons/makeup supplies and other junk on it soon, i've recently took down the shelves on the wall since all it did was just display "ornaments/gadgets/rewards" and collect dust, and just wall mounted the speakers (i'll prolly put all those black wires into one split loom tonite just to make it look nicer), yea crappy camera phone.

btw i'm also using the paper clamps on the edge of the desk to hold the iphone cable and loop it through.
