KBC Poker Black or Leopold Tenkeyless?
« on: Tue, 04 October 2011, 17:21:15 »
Since my last thread, I have decided to go on an alternate route from Filco. I have decided to purchase either a KBC Poker or a Leopold Tenkeyless.

I like how similar the Poker looks to the Happy Hacking Pro 2, however I don't like it's Fn array. They are both around my price range, however I was unsure about both of their quality.

Which board would you guys purchase? Also, I was planning to get the MX Brown models for both of them.

Thanks for any feedback!

i have both, but use my poker more often.

but it's flimsy compared to the leopold's quality. both are great keyboards, but for the price, i'd get the leopold instead.

also, only reason i use the poker more is because it's more compact. and since i use it with my laptop, it's easier to carry around than the leopold tenkeyless.
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

i have the Leopold tenkeyless with Browns, and i have a poker with Blues.

I love my Leopold, it feels solid, no weird "pings".  some people don't like how the stabilizers feel, personally i find the movement to be a lot more crisp with less wiggle (i used to have a Das so i've felt the difference).

I used my poker when i was in between my Das and my Leo.  i never realized how much i use keys like delete and function keys until i used it.  the Fn layer took some getting used to.  I keep it because i like the small form factor for travel and LAN gaming.

they're both great keyboards.  it really depends on personal taste more than anything.  the brown switches are a great choice, i find they're my favorite to type on.  i adapted to the Fn layout quite rapidly as i used a laptop for many years, you may not adapt to it as quickly.

all in all, one really can't give someone else advice on a keyboard.  there is so much personal taste and biased involved.  so go for what you think you'll get the better use out of.

I think a good board to add to your selection would be the CM STORM QUICK FIRE 80%(tenkeyless)
http://global.pchome.com.tw/?mod=item&func=exhibit&IT_NO=DCAH28-A58432699&SR_NO=DCAH28&ROWNO=8&tm=u  If you want a tenkeyless with cherry browns.  Made by cooler master for about $100 shipped.  It has costar stabilizers.  If you prefer the cherry stabilizers(i don't) get the Leopold.

If you're going with Blacks, you can pretty much forget about PCB mounted boards. If you are going to get two boards, I recommend you buy the Leopold in Black and Poker in Brown.
