Making a BS switch more snappy
« on: Mon, 16 April 2012, 00:57:39 »
I have a switch on my Unicomp that feels almost soft compared to the other switches. Are there any methods for restoring/increasing the snap of the switch? It's rather bothersome, considering it's the letter "e" and I hit it a lot during gaming.

Gaming on a BS? You are an odd one.

I wondered the same thing with my first one. The Unicomp I traded to you was the "snappier" of the two if it's any consolation. It may just be how the springs wear, in which case you could order some from pckeyboard and replace them every so often.

True story. I actually kinda like gaming on my BS. It's MMO, not FPS, so it's a bit easier to deal with :) Don't get me wrong though, I'm super stoked on the board. It's just that when there's only one tiny thing wrong with it, it kinda stands out.

I feel ya, the LEDs weren't a huge issue, but it still sort of worried me.

I broke two switches though trying to mod it to ghetto reds. I should have just left it, the ergo clears were fantastic...

I had almost exactly the same issue with my Unicomp.  (In my case it was the "u" key IIRC.)  Cause: a weak spring.  Solution: using a Chopstick o Death, I swapped the spring with Scroll Lock.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
