Need info on a cherry kb
« on: Tue, 11 October 2011, 15:12:43 »
Hi!

First, notice that English is not my native language, so I really apologize for mistakes and grammar...

That's my first post but I read GH since last year and I learn a lot of things on keyboards, thanks to this forum.

At my work they have an old printmaker (from the brand "Gravograph") which is connected to a computer (old too). The keyboard from the computer is made by Cherry.

Details:
Made in W.Germany
Model G80-0832H/09
Black switches, double shot keycaps
Grey and white keycaps

I'm sorry, I don't have pics, that's on my workplace and people wouldn't understand what I'm doing.

I'm interested in any info on this kb. Maybe could I include this one on a wiki?

Hi there, welcome to Geekhack.

I'll let the more knowledgeable guys weigh in later, but last I checked, the cherry G80 had MX switches. If you pull up a keycap, and they have a black axis, then they are probably the famous "cherry MX blacks". If you slowly press one, does it click? Probably not.

I don't know much more, and neither does google.

Also, this topic is the #1 hit for google on cherry g80-0832, congrats!

Finally, your English is fine, no worries. :)

I just found that the keyboard connector is DIN (five pins).

Ripster might know, but I would post this at Deskthority.  They have some folks there that know their obscure/vintage Cherry 'boards.
