Sticky key on Filco keyboard
« on: Tue, 18 October 2011, 04:14:04 »
Hello,

On my Filco keyboard (the first version, with brown switches), the left alt key has become sticky. This means, when you press it, it requires some force and feels like pressing it on a pillow, and then after pressed, it moves up slowly. No clickyness at all anymore, and very slow. This is extremely annoying, and way worse than even the lowest quality keyboards (but it's only this one key).

If I remove the keycap, I can see the brown cross shaped switch. And pressing that one gives this same sticky feel. Any suggestions how I can fix this? Is it possible to remove this brown switch, clean it, and put it back, and if so how?

Thanks!

Try to blow canned air into the switch (press stem down, blow in the gaps)

Sounds good except I don't have canned air :(
