Recommended 3+ port KVM that inputs USB and outputs PS/2?
« on: Sun, 01 March 2015, 00:48:30 »
Hi guys, I currently have three desktops that I'd like to connect, but I really don't want to keep using multiple keyboards and mice on desk. I have a couple of older PCs, and my Ducky Shine 3 will not work at all the oldest of them. Is there any KVM switches that take USB and convert it to PS/2?

I am not sure that I understand your question, but a KVM does not convert USB to PS2. However if you mean PS2 to USB then the standard bluecube will work. Or is your older pc has no USB support/ports? So you are looking at PS only or a USB-to-PS2 converter?

I have gone this route and had a PS2 input KVM, dont remember the model, can find out. This was accepting most of the keyboard/mice.

Now I am using this KVM and can say it is fantastic, accepts almost all newer/older meyboards, mice & trackballs. Very few keyboards have issues with this. Made by the master:

This works as long as you have the right drivers installed in each of the PCs. Also make sure you upgrade the device firmware.

The topic of USB to PS/2 conversion came up previously:

The OP decided on an Aten CS82U 2-port KVM for cheap USB to PS/2 conversion.

This is the 4-port version, the Aten CS84U:

Sorry for the super late reply. I'm going to just ignore the PS/2 issue now. Does anyone know the cheapest USB 3+ port KVM that a DS3 works with? The Ducky won't work with the WinXP machine I have, so I'm looking for something that will support hardware emulation so that WinXP can see it.
