The Rosewill RK-9000RE full size with cherry mx reds is $50 off with free shipping- just $80! The Das Professional S with Blacks is just $110. I am seriously tempted to go for the Red board even though I just got a new blue board!

Hard to compare the two, they are very different keys.  The reds are very smooth and silky and light, where the browns are not as smooth and tactile, but still reasonably light touch.  The big difference for me is the lightness of the reds for actuation and the no tactile feedback part.  It also think that the reds feel that much "lighter" because they actuate very early in the switch travel.  That means that you can expend very very little effort to actuate the key if you're accurate in that manner.  I personally like this fact, but I can see how others might really dislike it.  I find it pretty easy to type on the reds and not bottom out, but I think it's really going to depend on your typing style.  Some people criticize reds at being terrible for typing (and I can also understand why they would think that way too) and others (like me) think they are a pleasure to type on.

Lastly, I have to say that I've only been using them for a day or so really, so I don't have a really solid foundation for them yet .. I tend to always like new switches until I find the things about them that annoy me.  So far I haven't found anything about the reds that bug me yet.  I can also understand why people like the heavier linear cherry's as well.

Lastly, if you're really reliant on the tactile part of the switches, then reds are not for you.  There's not really anything in the way of feedback when the switch actuates.  For me it's not an issue because the reds actuate so quickly (like it feels like anything more than a couple mm and you're there but I haven't bothered to try and measure that).

Is that helpful?

what the hell.. I thought reds were supposed to be the "rare" switch.

Not selling as fast as they thought?

Not that rare anymore ever since many peripheral brands are showing interest in making red switch keyboards. As long as the demand is created, it is not impossible that Cherry would end up ramping up the cherry red production.
