Sun Microsystems Model 6 keyboard and mouse
« on: Wed, 14 December 2011, 15:54:42 »
I have a Sum Model 6 keyboard (keys printed in blue) and mouse (3-button, no wheel) that look to be in very good condition but are not recognized in Windows XP.

It looks like a high-end rubber dome, and feels pretty good.

Is this a collectable board, what is it worth, and is anyone interested in buying or trade?

Thanks!

Bump.

Come on guys, this thing has been viewed 59 times so far.

Somebody must have some knowledge or interest.

Even if you tell me that it's worthless and that I should throw it in the garbage.

Sorry, it was more of a theoretical question. Here they are.

Those are worth something? We have a pile of them in our office from all our old Unix boxes.

If I am not mistaken, the keys are Fujitsu rubber domes with a square white slider underneath each key cap. The key caps are Fujitsu's ordinary caps, and not the high-quality caps made for the Sun Type 5.

Does this keyboard have a USB connection, or does it talk a proprietary SUN protocol ... or Apple's ADB protocol?
I have heard of USB-capable Type 6's, but I don't know if they all are.

It is PS2 connection and the mouse plugs into a PS2 connection on the back side.

I was a bit surprised because I thought that the mouse needed its own cable, and there should have been a "Y" or something to that effect.

There are white sliders with rubber domes underneath. When I plugged it into my XP box, it was not recognized.

I suppose that the short answer is that there is little interest in this keyboard. I will be glad to sell keyboard and mouse for $10 + shipping if anybody wants them.

Thanks, folks.

It did plug into the PS2 port, so I guess that means that it is more accurately described as "Mini-DIN 6-pin"

I guess this means it goes in the bag for the next thrift store drive. Nice keys, though.
