From my personal experience MX blues are not good for starcraft, and razer keyboards are overpriced.

There are two teamliquid threads about what switches player use for SC2, it's really preference thing, so I would strongly recommend reading into this subject!
My conclusion was, that I would like brown switches more than blues, and i ordered one with brown switches recently (didnt arrive yet, so I can not really tell first hand experience).

But if the otaku you mentioned is a filco, i would rather get the filco instead of the razer, just because the filcos are built for eternity it seems.
And if you decide for the Black widow, I would recommend not getting the ultimate version, since the only diffrence is the backlighing and the USB hub afaik. not worth 50 $ more in my opinion!

In my country BlackWidow Ultimate is the cheapest MX Blue keyboard available. FYI the second cheapest is G80 - costs 300 PLN when you buy over 10 of them, 325 PLN if you buy just one. Cherry is better quality though Razer looks flashier.

Not too be too picky, but.....

The differences are: back lighting, USB port pass through, mic and headphone pass through and rubber coated keys.

The differences are: back lighting, USB port pass through(cheapo external USB extension is cheaper and serve better, the one on it doesn't supply enough power for external HHD), mic and headphone pass(again, external FTW) through and rubber coated keys(it sucks, again I do mean it SUCKS...).

The rubber coated keys is among the worse thing you can found on Razer BWU(apart from those QC problems). It is subject to wear out and feel awkward + sticky mixed with your sweaty hand.

I am finding a way to completely remove the coating from the keycaps.
