My wife will soon celebrate a round birthday (40th) and I want to give her something special. My choice is a Kindle.  She reads a lot and destroys all my books. Kindle for her and real books for me is the solution. The problem is that I'm totally broke. To buy a Kindle to Europe I'll have to pay shipping and taxes that are prohibitive expensive.
So now I am searching a member who can buy a Kindle, re-pack it and send it to Sweden. All costs paid for in advance of course.

did you watch the kindle with 3g? i know this used to be an issue with old kindles where the 3g was US only and not international (on some models), i'd check that out.

Pending your answer to Lanx's question, I would be happy to help.  PM me;  I have plenty of international shipping experience.

also which kindle?
did you want the ones with special offers? these cost generally 30bucks less and DO NOT hamper the reading experience, the ads only appear when you turnoff/sleep the kindle

the cheapest kindle is 80bucks with ads,
No touch
No keyboard

you would use a cursor to enter in text, like you would with a xbox 360 or psp
and there is no 3G option

the kindle touch is 99bucks you would touch the screen, but i have heard that the touch screen is a bit worse for viewing than without, being that you have to place another layer of material on top of the kindle screen to recognize touch, the quality is a bit less even than the basic kindle (but still great)

3G i think is 150

then they have the kindle keyboard, basically the cheapest kindle with a physical keyboard i think it only comes 3G for 140

they all have wifi, so that is always there.

also i believe the kindle is tied to your amazon account, at least it is for the kindle i have (second gen), and this is obviously so that you can purchase books whenever you want easily, i do not know if this will be an issue. just giving you a heads up and previous owner experience (well more like fiance' experience since i bought it for her)

I have one of the last gens, and I love it.  I tried reading on my Xoom, and there's no comparison; the Kindle wins hands down.  I really like the integration with Amazon.  Also, there are tons of free, classic books. I don't think I've paid for a book since I got it over a year ago.

if you pay 80bucks for amazon prime you get almost the entire library for the year that you pay for prime.
The Kindle Owners' Lending Library allows eligible U. S. Amazon Prime members who own Kindle devices to choose from thousands of books to borrow for free -- including more than 100 current and former New York Times Bestsellers -- as frequently as a book a month, with no due dates.

i don't have prime so i can't comment.

Sweet, I didn't know that. I like Prime for the shipping. That'll give me a reason to pay for it.

After a lot of reading I've ditched my first idea of a Kindle touch. I'll go for the cheapest $79 Kindle. Saves money for books.
Thanks for all great advices.
