Guess who was 1 of 5 selected from the SC2SEA.com community to receive, test and review the new ThermalTake Theron Gaming mouse? This guy. I thought I might as well post the review here too once I've received the mouse and reviewed it.

They are quite good actually. The thing I don't like is that it is wider than the Abyssus which was the perfect width to me.

I says that the mice is made mainly toward RTS players, what I want to know is one thing:

Since I'm FPS player, how many DPI setting can you memorize,3,4,5?  For example on my G500 I have 5 different DPI settings if you know what I mean, How many does the theron has,cas if you can have at least 3,then its adeal nreaker for FPS gamers.

You can store 4 different DPI settings. In addition the size of the mouse is decent enough and balanced enough for FPS play. I couldn't use my Abyssus for FPS games and had to switch back to my mamba because it was better suited to small movements rather than the large sweeping movements needed for FPS.

ok 4 different settings is great, plenty actually. Now I understand it it has 5 or 6 different profiles right, can you separatelly memorise different settings DPI on each profile, or once when you memorise the allowed 4 those will stay with the rest of the customizable profiles?

another thing, I would of bought the black Element just so I can try something different than my G500, but the Black element DPI changing can only be shown on the desktop not while in gaming since it doesnt have an actual bar indicator on the mice itself. Does the Theron has bars indicator on the mice itself to show you which DPI setting your in?
One more thing lol... If you have ever used the G500, are they in the same ball park,performance,quality,usability,software,ergonomics/comfortability wise? thanks

Yes, that is 4 different DPI settings per profile so you can have a total of 20 different DPI settings, but you need to lift the mouse up and press a button on the bottom to change profiles on the fly.

I have never owned a G500, but I used a friend's one. This mouse performs better than I remember the G500 performing. And it does have an indicator on the top to show which DPI preset you are using.

Overall the mouse has been very easy to use, the software is good, the mouse feels solid and durable. As far as ergonomics it depends on your preference. If you like the G500 I think you will like the shape of this one, but I use a fingertip grip and am used to the freedom afforded by Razer mice so this one is taking some getting used to, but if you are a palm grip gamer (as most FPS gamers are) you will find this mouse just fine.
