Brown and Red (possibly some others) help needed
« on: Thu, 09 February 2012, 15:14:48 »
I'm still not sure on which type to get because I haven't tested any of them out yet, but I'll probably try to check out some stores near me to see if they'll let me test out each switch type, but I think I'm not going with the heavier types (black/blue, right?) so I think I'll choose either brown (probably), red or maybe even black (I mostly play BF3, League of Legends, might start with SC2, and just playing some other random games. I also will use it for typing of course).
I also kind of want a tenkeyless one, preferably with PS/2 with N-key rollover and maybe some backlight and media keys. I live in the Netherlands. Prefer if it would be around €100.

Googled around for some keyboard and here's what I found:

Red switch: Corsair K60 (not tenkeyless, F-keys and some others are rubber domes, no backlight, has a wrist support and extra WASD keys, has mediakeys) for €90 (including shipping)
Red switch: Leopold Tenkeyless Red Switch (even thought it doesn't have backlight/media keys, looks like a great keyboard really, but it's €50 in shipping to the Netherlands and kind of expensive without many features, I think) for €100 + €50 shipping...
Brown switch: I don't even know. Suggest please (mind the shipping too, please)
Black switch: I don't even know. Suggest please (mind the shipping too, please)

As you can see, I'm really unsure of what to get, because it also just seems as if I don't really have many options here in the Netherlands.

They are $89 plus shipping that is around $50.

That's still €139. I think I'm able to spend that €50 that's going to shipping on something better than that :/

Yeah, sorry, my bad. But still, that's a lot to pay for shipping, and I'm pretty sure I'll have to pay customs too, right? :/ Isn't there any better solution?
Don't even need to get a red switch perse, feel free to suggest some good brown/black/whatever you think would fit me keyboards.

Have you considered the Cooler Master Quickfire with reds from PCHome? I think they have world wide shipping for 20 bucks. I paid $111 shipped to the states.

Not sure how to search on PCHome. It's a Taiwanese site right? How do I order on there? What other possible red/brown keyboards are available there (with the specs that I want?)

EDIT: Found the brown and red I think:

Still, feel free to suggest others. I'll be sure to take these ones into consideration though. Thanks!

There's a guide on this site how to order from there. Kind of tricky but worth it.

I see you've got red, brown and even blue switches. Which one do you prefer most? How is the CM Storm Quickfire against the Filco Majestouch?

I prefer browns. And honestly the Filco and Quickfire are very similar. The filco has a better look to it since it doesn't have the logos like the CM. But after changing the keycaps it doesn't really bother me. I love the Cm because its probably 95% as good as a filco and I got the cherry blue version for almost half what I paid for my filco ($78 vs. $140)

The CM's also have a detachable cable. Which at first I thought I didn't like. But now I prefer it as I can easily swap between keyboards. As far as switch that just comes down to personal preference. I started with browns, since I have tried blues, reds, clears, blacks (in the store) and concluded that browns are my favorite.

Heres some pics of the red and blue version of the storm. With better caps on them.

What do the lock LEDs look like on the CM with caps that have no windows?  Do they glow from behind enough to see them?

On a white cap you can see the red shine through. On a dark one no.
