Newbie with a Dilemma

Edit: Never mind.

Also, PCHome is pretty cool for delivering my new Ducky 1008XM from Taiwan to Texas in 5 days. Just wanted to say.

Newer Edit: Actually, it looks like my first impressions were right after all. Avoid Ducky 1008XM.

dont buy alps if you care about keycap wiggle. cherry keyboards have either cherry or costar stabilizers, so read the wiki and figure out which one you want

Right then, I suppose I'd better be more precise.

The keys wiggle...more than is desirable or expected.
And they ping...more than is desirable or expected, though I could probably live with it.

Better? My apologies for the imprecision of the first version.

Edited to add: Is there a substantial acclimatization period with these mechanical things? I mean, are the issues I've listed the sort of thing that one typically "gets used to" with a mechanical keyboard?

To be honest, it worries me too. I've been here a day and I'm already thinking about buying a Unicomp, and then taking apart the Ducky to see what makes it tick (or quack)...

Must escape...

Oh, I already lurk there now and again...

On another note, I think I've started to adjust to this Ducky keyboard. It seems to be improving on its own every minute I use it, which bodes very well indeed for its future.

Alps is just a phase, you'll get over them eventually.

At least keyboards is a relatively cheap hobby.

Haha. Wait. You'll get to the Topres and custom injection molded key sets and clickclacks. Then we'll see whose wallet is crying.
