You can be used for appreciation gifts to school students, customers.

Not sure I can agree to that... Unless it's like really hot female students/customers we are talking about here, in which case... Where do I sign?

Oh, and the Topre-Keychain is a neat idea as well!

I'm stunned by the smoothness of the switch. Completly another thing copmared to the crispy GHSS, which I'm currently using.

Hey guys. I stepped in for EUR2, hope nobody minds.

This is a wonderful thing that you're doing and I'm very happy to be part of it. Got the package from In Stereo! this morning, but I'm only now getting ready to spend some quality time with the keychain. I don't have a huge amount of experience actually using mechanical keyboards (most notable would perhaps be my playing games on two Model M's yonks ago), but I've been lurking geekhack quite a bit and have a few enthusiast mates who have taken the plunge already.

For the time being, all I'll say is that the build quality of this thing, especially considering where it's been, feels solid for a single key and the black-on-grey print looks great. It surprised me a bit to see just how angled the front side of the keycap is, but I guess that's down to me being stuck on completely flat laptop keys for so long now. Hopefully that's going to change in the near future.

Oh, I have the address of the next one in line already, just so you know. Germany somewhere.

Right then, I'll be sending it on its way to Germany sometime this week, sorry for hogging it for so long. I was hoping to be able to provide a photo of it hanging from a dragon's open jaws, but I've had a really busy last week and the weather has been too schizophrenic for me to want to take my DSLR with me for the whole day. Might still happen if I find the opportunity before packing it back up, but it won't be today.

Overall, the experience of playing around with the Topre switch has been illuminating. I was expecting a softer, mushier feel to it and even though I'm still not convinced that it bounces back up quite quickly enough for my liking, the 55g variant well might. The first priority remains getting my hands on a Filco with Cherry MX Browns because they just sound like a greal all-around switch. But after that, who knows if I wouldn't prefer the quiet Topres over MX Blues for late-night typing and in atmospheric games that (unlike the main game I play religiously) only require light use of the keyboard?

The cost of a Realforce (even compared to a Filco) shipped to Slovenia is a bit outrageous, though, so it'll definitely be a while before I have to make my mind up. First things first.

Don't say I never took you anywhere, little keychain.

Here's the rest of the photos I took if anyone's curious, one of which has the city castle in the background on the hill. The bridge itself is a tiny thing, certainly compared to the one on the US/Canada border, but it's the best we have around here so it'll have to do. The dragon is in the coat of arms of our capital, there's two of them on each side. Awesome things, aren't they? They're also in the first photo you see when you open the Wikipedia article about dragons, that has to count for something.

Keychain's on the way to Germany now. Let us know when it arrives!

i received it two days ago, greetings to slovenija :)

it feels very good, it's definitely more than "a very good rubberdome".
the amount of force to trigger the switch is just right, i can really see how it's a pleasure to write on these...

now i want a whole board :(

i will post some pics, later.

also thanks to MrInterface, this is pretty cool.

Thanks, VentiLator, for the nice chocolate additions; my other half enjoyed them and also sends her thanks.

Some may label my observations blasphemous, but they are the same I conveyed to a friend who tried to explain a Realforce to me.

The feel of the key is very close to that of my old IBM rubber-dome keyboard, right down to the sound made when the key is released. However, two things that are immediately obvious as being better on the Realforce key are the higher build quality and the lighter keypress.

So, I am glad to have had the chance to try the key (thanks, guys!) otherwise I would have kept wondering what it was like. I still want to buy a Realforce but think I can wait a bit longer since my current IBM keyboard is satisfactory. Maybe, Christmas will be a good occasion to get one.

Cheers.

PS: Keychain packed and ready to be shipped to the next person on the list.

Hi,

I'm sorry to say the Topre Keychain got lost in mail traffic.

If you know anybody willing to donate another one, please let me know so I can start this again.

This is the main reason why I want the sinklist items to be sent with tracking. :=(

Regards.
