Some of the best skateboarding movies that you need to see if you haven't already:
(Not really in any particular order.)

Girl: Yeah Right!
Emerica: This is skateboarding.
Toy Machine: Good and Evil
Flip: Sorry.
Chocolate: Hot Chocolate
Flip: Really Sorry.

I'm living this nightmare. I've broken my ankles around 4 times each, 3 ribs, 8 fingers and toes, countless torn ligaments and probably more I can't remember. My sports doctor told me I couldn't skate anymore about 7 years ago so luckily living on the coast I picked up surfing. Its a lot easier on your body lol. I can shred for a few hours at a time, maybe 2 or three max. After that my ankles swell up like balloons.

Practicing any sport while being drunk it's not a good idea! Zero reaction time (and you know how important timing is in skateboarding hehe)

Oh there's no such thing that older guys can't skate! I see Jason Lee playing around a lot of times recently! Yeah, the same Jason Lee from the Plan B video and from My Name Is Earl.

Yah Jason Lee is old school. Don't remember him in a plan b video though. He was actually my friends neighbor. Used to buy them beer when they were in high school!

I skateboarded all the way through middle school and high school. Now that I am in college, I don't go out and skate as much but I still have most of my tricks.
Speaking of skateboarding videos, please go watch Rise & Shine - The Nyjah Huston Video.

I skated for about 7 years (from when I was 10 till about 17). I never "gave it up" just don't do it anymore. I have given my board to my son but he cannot really skate well as he is only 4.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Rodney Mullen as support for older skaters. Man that guy is my hero. I'm starting to regret quitting skating 5 or so years ago. I could have been really good by now if I hadn't.

He's been my hero, too and I alsocould've been really good by now. :/ Worst desicion ever...
Last year I just had to get on my board and the only trick I could do was a simple kickflip.

I mentioned him as one of my favorites but I guess it was in the other thread we were highjacking before we moved here.  Hes a beast for sure and invented half the street tricks out there.

If you youngsters started skating BITD and never learned how to ollie properly, then you'd still be able to gleam the cube today while shredding all of the modern transition-based parks.  Street skating just wreaks havoc on joints, cartilage, and tendons; skating pools not so much.

Any of you SoCal geeks should go check out the Lake Forest skatepark some time.  That place is a masterpiece for all forms of skating.

Rodney Mullen and Eric Koston were my favorites back in the day. Always picked them in Tony Hawk.

Yeah Right was probably one of the best produced skate videos that I've seen. Very cool ideas.

@KL

Here in São Paulo a very known spot is Av. Paulista (starts@2:11):

But avoid hehe.

You might have already heard about that kid, Luan de Oliveira. He had some appearances at Berrics:

But I gotta be honest with you. I haven't been into skateboarding since early '00. I'm 100% sure that there are a lot of new spots and skateparks that I'm not aware of. For instance, that skatepark in the very beginning of the youtube video above, I didn't even know that it existed (I google'ed it and it was created in 2009)!

Back in the day I used to download a lot of skateboard videos (have 60GB of it). But now I mostly just watch some videos in internet and I end up missing a lot of the local/international news and competitions.

You know, a lot of the Girl and Chocolate videos including Yeah Right are directed by Spike Jonze, director of the movie "Being John Malkovich" (he has done other stuff but I only know that :P).

Did you guys see the Lakai movie Fully flared? Damn that was nice too. Lots of explosions. Also directed by Mr. Jonze.

I used to skate a little when I was 8-9 years old. Could do a 180 at best. :D

Been thinking about starting "again" for a long time, just that it feels embarrassing starting to skate when youre 21 and you know you would suck. :p
