Platemount desoldering cherry mx

just to confirm but for platemounted cherry mx keys

specifically for only one key
if i just remove the solder from the pcb side, all that's need to be done is press in the clips on the front and carefully push/pull out from the pcb and also from the plate.

also asking if the metal plate is somehow latched by the key design, such that you have to slide the key out. or is the key just sitting on top of the metal plate?

The switches are only attached to the PCB by the solder points.  The switches do clip into the plate like you guessed.

So de solder from PCB, pull out from the plate side like you are thinking.

Try jiggling the switch to see if the two pins have been free of solder and can move freely or not. if both can be jiggle, feel free to pop it out with a small (enough to slip through the mounting hole on pcb).
