Question Regarding Cherry MX Switches (Filco's Specifically)
« on: Thu, 12 April 2012, 12:55:33 »
Is there a repercussion to holding down keys (the "W" key in my case) for long periods of time?

I feel like over time and with the amount of time I spend just holding the "W" key down, the spring could become frail or lose its coil.

No more harm than pressing and releasing the key.. Don't worry about little things. You have a great keyboard and it will last you plenty long enough regardless of your usage (so long as such usage does not pertain to violence toward aforementioned keyboard).

I keep worrying about the same thing, since I game on it. I know it's completely irrational, but I still think about it all the same.

Don't worry the switch is doing what it was designed to do. You can't over press a switch without smashing it. And by smashing it I mean with a hammer.

Even if it brakes... Just replace the spring... Mechanical Keyboards (with mx switches at least) are forever.
