I have owned a Leopold FC200RT tenkeyless keyboard for the last year and have enjoyed every moment of it. Last week my daughter spilt some water on the keyboard, game over.
I am looking to buy another mechanical keyboard and am trying to narrow down a short-list. However, this has been difficult. I would really like to use the PS/2 port (no-polling and NKRO), but am fed up with the USB-PS/2 adapter that makes the connector hang so far out the rear of the PC that I almost need to build a frame to hold it in place! There are few mechanical keyboards that have a PS/2 cable standard, most use an adapter.
I have noticed that the Rosewill keyboards (see
.jpg]here) ship with both a USB and PS/2 cable so you are prepared for either situation. I do not want a Rosewill KB however,* but I cannot for the life of me find such a cable, the searches are flooded with cables that are for the reverse connection (making an old USB keyboard work on USB port). I would prefer this option to getting a different keyboard, because at a later date I may need USB (if the mobo does not have PS/2), and since I will always have my keyboard plugged in it makes no sense to ever require an adapter.
Does any one know where I can get a quality, braided, PS/2 (mini-DIN) to mini USB cable? It shouldn't be this hard, right?*I am looking for a keyboard with either Cherry Browns/Whites (I haven't tried White's yet, I am thinking about it, but need tactile/silent keys). The appearance, I prefer small, simple, understated, with perhaps a little flair (like, Leopold, Filco, Poker, etc) is important to me, tenkeyless is preferred due to appearance but not required. I would get Steelseries 7G except that is has Cherry Blacks. There are few left that I would like, so am looking at another Leopold FC200, or if I can stretch the budget a Filco Majestouch 2 (but even that doesn't have a removable USB cable, I think!).
