Finding the elusive Filco Majestouch 2 FKBN104M/EB2
« on: Mon, 14 May 2012, 22:24:44 »
Hey guys, this is my last thread of the day, and for quite a while.

But after learning so much about mechanical keyboards, I've finally decided to go with the Filco Majestouch 2 FKBN87M/EB2. However there's just 1 problem, I can't seem to find it anywhere. It's sold out or has very ridiculous prices. I'm looking for somewhere that will have it around $140-$170 w/ shipping, anything over that is pushing it. If you guys have any website recommendations, please let me know.

Some websites I've found, but have confused me are
http://filco.com.tw/product.php?page_id=23&product_id=82  <-- (I'm not sure how it's priced?)

I've also browsed Japanese Amazon as well, but after reading some of the fine print it said there was a COD of 300,000 yen? Not sure what that's about.

Please help me out here guys, I would love to join the mechanical keyboard club!
Thanks!

Where are you located in the world?

http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=623
keyboardco is also available on amazon

I've never owned a Filco but I have not really heard a solid argument that proves why it's better than a Leopold keyboard other than "it's a filco" so maybe check out elitekeyboards?

edit: most people argue the stabilizers (e.g. cherry vs leo-cherry vs. costar) make the larger keys heavier but I don't really buy that.  Then again I type on mx clears and think they're a tad light...

edit2: also not trying to sway your opinion, get what you want :) just trying to make the first buy a tad easier haha

Sorry I should have clarified, I'm in California.

Edit: Yea I have seen keyboardco.com before, however the final price comes out to near $200. Which is more than I'm willing to spend to get the board right now.

Best option is to just wait for amazon to restock, you could always pm bruce from keyboard company and ask when they are restocking US amazon

either that or just pick up a leopold from EK, build quality is pretty much the same (just uses a different stabilizer and different spacebar layout)

Hence why Filcos cost 2x + as much. I'd like one, but I'm not willing to hunt one down from the other side of the world and pay out the ears for it.

Check qtans store. Not sure which switch that model is.

They will be in stock in mid June or around there. KeyboardCo is the one who supplies Amazon USA so prices are about the same from Amazon or direct from them in the UK. Only addition is shippnig from the UK if you order there but you don't have to wait obviously.

I have a black Majestouch2 104 with browns I'd sell I guess. I don't think I'm ever going to use it again now that I've gone to tenkeyless. I have a matching Filco wristrest as well. Both in their boxes and only  used a few weeks.

I'd sell the keyboard for $130 and wristrest for $45.

^^^. It doesn't get much better than that, assuming it was only gently used by a conscientious keyboardist. :-)
Welcome to geekhack -- where we like to type -- but don't care so much about reading.

I was going to order a standard TKL directly from KBco but it was $180 before shipping. I ended up getting the exact same board from KBco through Amazon and paid $140. It has black switches which feel great but lack tactility. I may be willing to sell it.

As others have said they will restock Amazon soon.
SSKs for everyone!
