Topre switch question
« on: Thu, 19 July 2012, 06:30:08 »
Hey guys I tried to do a search but nothing specific came up... At the moment I'm using a Topre Realforce 104UB variable weight. I love the keyboard to bits but I'm finding that I accidentally press the 'a' key more frequently than I'd like. For this reason, I'd ideally like a uniform 45g layout which only appears to be available in the china limited 104Pro.

My only gripe with that keyboard is that the right hand side windows key acts as some sort of stupid macro. Getting to the point, what would be involved in order to make a hybrid of the two using the switches from the uniform 45g 104Pro with the PCB of the 104UB? What needs to be swapped; the rubber domes or the springs? This is the board I'll be purchasing for the mod: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=15076964190.

There's other uniform 45G boards, have another look around!

I've looked through here http://deskthority.net/wiki/Realforce. The only 103/104 layout with 45g seems to be the one I've listed. If there's another, I'd be keen to know.

I think your right because elitekeyboards and keyboard company only carry the uniform 55g in the 104.

Topre's are rubber dome with a small spring underneath each dome. I believe the consensus is that the springs are all the same and the difference in weights is dictated by the design of each dome.  Once you get both boards apart it shouldn't be to difficult to "cut" your dome sheet off of the 104 and fit it in the tenkeyless. If your careful enough you might even be able to swap the remainder of your 104 into the tenkeyless so both boards still work.
