Need Help chosing a new monitor

I'd like to ask you what screen would be best for gaming? As for me, I play alot on the computer, and my old 17' screen with high response rate doesn't seem to help me anymore


Can you recommend something that's great for gaming?(Should be in the 100-400€ range)

Do you care about how accurate the color is?

For pure gaming, any TN panel based monitors are of good choices, and they come cheap.

No, I don't care about how the color is, I just want something fast and not something that supports eye candy, something just for pure gaming.

Also, could you link me a few TN panel based monitors? Thanks in advance

Samsung makes some nice standard flat panel monitors, check some of those out.

However, if you want the fastest "response rate", you can't get any faster than phosphors present in CRT monitors.

The higher end Dell monitors are good. The cheap ones usually bundled with their computers are hideous though.

Yeah, I know CRT are the best, but my room and desk offers me little space, so I'd need something smaller if you know what I mean

Have you seen the BenQ XL2410T 23.6" 120Hz monitor? If your system consistently gets over 60fps in the games you play they will atleast be displaying on the monitor regardless of whether your eyes can tell the difference or not. Also a higher refresh rate is a bit sharper in faster moving scenes which I think would be the main benefit in gaming.

That monitor looks really good, but do you know if the same monitor is avaible without 3D support? I don't like paying extra for stuff I'm never going to use if you

All the 120hz monitors should have a 3D-less(glasses, stereoscopic unit) counterpart sold reducing the price by quite a bit. Either way most of the 120hz are bought for the close-to CRT performance not for the 3D. But do your research before buying any one of the 120hz monitors despite all of them being TN Panels some offer better quality than the other.

Yeah what Arc'xer said, the 3D support is just really because of the 120Hz. They list "3D ready" because it is the latest craze, but its just a 120Hz monitor like any other 120Hz monitor ever. Its pretty much just a marketing scheme because they can now charge more by claiming "3D ready" than when they just claim 120Hz, because 3D is more universally recognized to the layman or average gamer than refresh rates.

I've been gaming on the BenQ XL for couple months now. Some have complained about the color correction and stuff but I couldnt care less. Monitor looks perfect to me.

I manage to pull out +120 fps in Starcraft 2 and Quake Live and this monitor rocks.

I'll be buying new 240hz monitors as soon as they come out (will this be coming soon ? i cant wait...). I dont know if I'll see a diffenrence passed 140 fps or so but I dont care I just want MORE Hertzzzzzzz

Yup shame they market it for the 16:9(some want them in 16:10) HD craze bull**** would have been nice to see the 120hz monitors as 125hz or at least have the capacity to go 125hz. 3D for 120hz for equal complete frame drawing 60/60 per eye instead of the 125hz 62.5/62.5 but the 125hz in 2D to match the polling rate of the mouse and act as a divisor for higher equal rates(250, 500) and framerate, but either way at least they exist.

Some comments by a few diehard CRT uses who use high-end aperture grille in a couple archived internet forum posts. Have commented that around 130-140hz area is when every millisecond counts either way having more hertz even if you can't tell(though around the same area is when some of these guys mentioned it changed their perception a lot of monitors and allows them to guesstimate lower refresh rates even detect the LCD refresh much easily when it does occur) is nice because it gives you an even bigger divisor to smaller framerates allowing you to at least play low-framerate(high graphic) games with some more smoothness than a matched refresh rate to the frame rate. Plus even if you can't tell running the game at such a high frame rate and refresh rate constantly gives you a huge advantage in the amount of updates you receive to you eye.
