Any recommendations on what to do or see?

i'm on the other side of the continent, you choose the wrong coast!

my recommendation... well, i'm a foodie, so if i was going to be in quebec, i'd be visiting a lot of restaurants.  au pied de cochon would be pretty high on my list, proper poutine and fois gras (or poutine au foie gras) would be a must.

Learn French.  They hate Americans.

I googled "Is Quebec Frendly" and here's what came out. I love it.

"While Canadians as a whole have strong fraternal feelings for Americans Quebecers are probably more openly warm to their American cousins. Possibly because the French Canadians don't seem to have the need to feel superior to Americans the way the rest of us Canadians often do. It's silly really but it comes from living next to a huge country that most of the time is barely aware that we exist. But - trust me - Canadians really, really like Americans. They really do!"

I'm from Montreal. Here's a link for sightseeing in MTL that could help you: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g155032-Activities-Montreal_Quebec.html

From the link, my choices would be:
-Mount Royal (Walk up there and enjoy the view of the city. Nice place to go to see greens right in the middle of the city.)
-Notre-Dame Basilica (Old church is old and really nice. Contrast with the buildings.)
-Old Montreal/Old Port/Old Quays (Just a must to walk around St-Jacques and to enjoy the old European feel of the surroundings. Lots of nice restaurants too.)
-St. Joseph's Oratory (If you are in the old Catholic buildings, this is a must. Big and old and pretty.)

And the other stuff depends on when you plan to visit MTL. There's quite a few festivities during summer. (24 of June, 1st of July, Jazz fest, F1 racing)
Late June and all July, each Saturday night is the International Fireworks festival, where pros from all around the world come and give us a really good show http://www.internationaldesfeuxloto-quebec.com/en/

For the city of Quebec, I'd say, check the 1st link for more info on Quebec, since the last time I've been there, things might have changed a bit regarding the festivals and such. But the Frontenac Castle is a most and walking around the old city is just amazing.

I hope it will help find some nice things to do. MTL is always buzzing during summer time, since we have snow the other 9 months or so....

Most of the Quebec'ers that I know have a superiority complex, it's a cultural thing, not a personal thing.  They'll tell you it's pride for their heritage and culture.  Some would argue that it's more of a Canadian thing in general.  I find it more prevalent with the wrong coast thought.

And keep in mind, I don't think there's anything wrong with any of that.  It's not meant as in insult or a shove.

That said, you will find even the most arrogant francophone will likely be more friendly towards you than the average east-coast american.  That's a quotable fact by the way.

I'll assume that you've never been to Montreal during spring/summer time. The ladies are pretty amazing! We are lucky that the vast majority of our women are not overweight, because they take care of themselves.

I know, I know, you're only trying to fire up the thread, but let's keep it on track, for KL's sake :D

I'd say the only women on the continent that would give the BC girls a real run for their money would be those in Montreal.  That said, I'm biased, my wife's family migrated from the wrong coast.

-Old Quebec is a must. Sightseeing the "Château Frontenac" will provide you with lot of amazing picture. That thing is big and impressive. (I'm into old structures :D)
-Take a walk around the Old Citadel. Lotsa shop, boutique and museum to go to.
-You could enjoy a ferry tour. Depending if the weather is nice or not. It's worth the shot.
-Depending if you are among friends (guys) go to one of the best nudies in north america (Can't check the name since I'm at work... XD)

It's all my fault, Ripster wants revenge for what I did in his trackball thread.

And to support your statement, my American colleagues were finding all kind of excuses to visit our Montreal office during summer.

Couldn't believe the look on their faces…

Montreal:

- Most people I know swear by 'La Banquise' for poutine, but to be honest I have never been there. I eat poutine at the dirtiest joints.

- People will recommend 'Schwartz's' for smoked meat, I say **** them, go literally across the street to 'The Main' for less touristy crowd, nicer service, equally good smoked meat.

- Au Pied de Cochon, Garde Manger. Café Ferreira and Holder are also good.

- I would steer clear of Queue de Cheval, and Gibby's, the two most recommended and overrated places in Mtl. (hint, if you want steak, Mtl is not really the place to have it). Also avoid Crescent street, it's a ****ing lame tourist trap.

- Notre-Dame Basilica and St-Joseph's Oratory for obligatory "large religious structures". Great View at the Oratory.

- go up mont royal, great view.

- two great markets (mostly local produce, but also some good places that do lunch right there), depending where you are located (Jean-talon and Atwater).

- Montreal has two seasons: Winter and summer. The woman dress according to those extremes (skidoo suits/full length North Face coats in the winter, next to nothing in the summer).

- Shopping: there is lots of it.

- If you have kids or are a nerd, there are a ton of wicked "museums". Down at the "waterfront" (river), there is a cool science museum, not too far away there is a planetarium too. You can hop over to Ile Notre Dame to visit Parc Jean Drapeau and the Biosphere. The Bidome, botanical gardens and Insectarium are all cool too.

- Be prepared for walking, Mtl has one of the most walkable downtowns going. Might even be worth your while to ride the Metro (subway). It's not really hard to do, and it's nice. However, there is also the option to use BIXI! This is a public bike service, so if it's a nice day, that might be the prime way to travel around. You will see them everywhere (the bike kiosks).

- Always shows going on. Family stuff at Place-des-Arts, or you could just check "The Mirror" to see if any bands are playing at one of the bazillion awesome clubs (if that's your thing).

- Speaking of which, too bad it's in June, Osheaga is always a good time (end of July).

If you have questions, google any of what I just said, Im certain there are websites for it all.

Also, not sure how you are getting in, or where you are staying, but I recommend staying within Centre-Ville (downtown), which is NOT near the airport.

Source: I lived there for 5 years, and visit routinely for work.

I figured you would, but you will want to keep daily driving to a minimum (especially considering the notoriety of Quebec drivers, and the volume of traffic on a good summer day). Staying downtown is best as it allows you to be more spontaneous. Park that beast and walk/bike/metro!

Yeah I wasn't sure if any shows were going on, but I would concur with that. I saw the premier of OVO a couple years back, and it was amazing (my thoughts: http://blog.instantkamera.ca/2009/05/cirque-du-soleil-ovo.html)
