Crucial SSD Gold Box on Amazon
« on: Fri, 18 November 2011, 09:52:03 »
http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/ref=cs_top_nav_gb27

If anybody was looking for a good alternative to their HDD, or don't want to pay 120 bucks for a mechanical drive, this might pique your interest. It's a gold box deal so it'll be good but it'll only last an hour/until out of stock, be forewarned.

The crucial drives are of good quality IIRC. I've got an OCZ myself and i've been happy with it.

I use Crucials for the rock solid Marvell controllers. Running them in RAID 0 is nice too. :)

If the price ends up being 1:1 for storage to cost, I say pick it up and put a fresh install on it. I got an SSD running on my "old" E8400 4GB Ram build a few months ago, and it felt like a new machine.

About time HDDs got phased out. In my opinion, long overdue.

EDIT: I'd like to pick one up, but my wife's put a clamp down on my spending as x-mas is coming up.

Are you one of those people that post in the Ripster TIL posts "I knew that already"?

You should really see a doctor about that OCD thing.

Not OCD, more along the lines of something that would be diagnosed as 'truth, and I don't give a damn how you feel about it'

I just thought maybe you did something interesting to your netbook.

Double post and on-topic, it looks like the deal for 11 o'clock is an ecksbawks 360 w/ kinect & 75 bucks amazon credit, might want to peel an eye for that one if you want a ~5 year old console.

I have a C300 in my HP netbook disquised as something else.

Rock solid.  Best INVESTMENT EVAH!

I have a C300 in my netbook as well. Not a totally mind blowing upgrade but certainly loads up Firefox a hell of a lot faster than the 5400 RPM platter drive that came with it. Plus it boots quick and shuts down in about 5 seconds.

Looks like the deal is the regular price of 399.99 - .01

So 399.98 & 75 dollar credit, way to move product amazon.

I guess if you were in the market it might make some people bite.

hope any interested parties were watching that. 150 bucks off the 256 Gb version. For an example of how good a deal that is, by the time that I googled newegg for a price match and went back to amazon on a 20gb fiber connection, they were all in carts. You can still get on the wait list and might be able to get one that somebody else decides not to buy, but you better shake a leg. This is a pretty good deal, 256 for about $1.50 a gb.

Nah, that's me, remember?

Ugh, these deals always come up, tempting me to start building my "dream computer network" but I need to remain practical, It's planned for 4 years down the road.

Good thing I missed it.
