If you live in AZ you can try my keyboards. I usually keep plenty of different ALPS and MX and buckling springs.

At that price, it would only take a couple of decent boards to be worthwhile.

After pulling out anything good, donate the rest for to a charity for a tax write-off. It would not be unreasonable to list their value at $2 each for that purpose.

A charity would not want keyboards that need $8 USB adapter, each. The PS/2 ship has sailed in that regard.

First find a recycler that will take the excess (98% of them) ultra cheap, or else don't buy them.

FWIW, I think a couple of Dells near the top could be AT101W's but that's far from certain. Most of the keyboards appear to be from the late 90s... a bad sign.

Looks like a big pile of rubberdomes boards to me. There might be a few AT101W in there, but defineatly most of it looks worthless.
Most sellers have no freaking idea what is mech. Though pro recyclers do, but they don't care that the boards are cool, just that they have a lot of gold and other valuable metals in them. Yes, they take rare boards and melt them, bastards.

Maybe they would let you cherry pick it if there is anything there. They would have to be pretty weird not to take $20-30 for a few boards if there is anything interesting.

exactly what im thinking.  but if the opening bid is $40 for the whole lot, why not just take em all lol.  It'll be like the opening to the duck tales cartoon, except with keyboards not gold coins hahaha

edit: heading over there tonight.  What specific models should i be looking out for?  I'm such a n00b.  who wants to skype with me while im there? hahahah jk

I saw some dell, so look for AT101 or AT102. Anything IBM will probably be good, but especially look for model F's.
See if there are any of those compaq MX11800s

http://deskthority.net/wiki/IBM_Model_F
F-AT would be great, F-XT good. see if there are any F-122's, etc.

I mean, if it clicks, pick it up :p

Sooo, after digging thru 200 boards, about 16 buckling spring, 8 alps of varyinf color, and a few quiet keys.  50% of them were quietkeys, so i just took a couple.  Cleaning these is going to be a *****

What are these?

Not the buckling spring im used to seeing (no ping)

Bottom is a space invaders switch. Top is some kind of membrane based switch most likely but it has ALPS doubleshots so that's nice. Gonna post some more pics for us? I'm sure a bunch of people are sitting with a bag of popcorn.

well color me speechless. nice job man!

i was like a kid in a candy store.  I walk into the first room, and just a huge table full of boards.  He's like oh, there are more in here. Walk into the next room, even more keyboards (unfortunately i could tell they were all the same, and mostly rubber dome).  But in the second room he had a ton of blades for servers, 2 nice server cases, 15 desktops, monitors, etc.

Cleaning these things is going to be my project this weekend (after getting out my FMA keys tho. no worries ppl)

Sell me one of the IBM buckling springs! :p

That's a good haul! I'm glad more keyboards are going into good hands than the recyclers.

Did you get a good look at the monitors? any trinitrons? A place nearby threw out fifteen Sony GDM-FW900's before I could save them. I would have taken them all.

great now you have a bunch of probably fine but uninteresting alps board with frustratingly unique layouts, some of which won't work without expensive adapters. have fun!!

Yeah space invaders to me were like better MX Blues. They feel like an MX Blue just smoother and without the awkward jig feel.

Here's same good pictures of the NMB switches, courtesy of Razer:

(I have no idea why they spent so much effort into making drawings of a switch they don't even use.)

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Most of the lots I see are sh*tty Compaq boards, most of which dont work or "untested"
And the recyclers are really stingy, they won't let you in to have a look. Workplace health and safety, my foot!
