Desoldered some switches and OOPs
« on: Sun, 21 October 2012, 17:29:22 »
Not sure if this is the right place for this but I'm sure someone will tell me if not. I picked up a Ducky 9000G2-A that had water damage for small amount of $ and started to remove switches that showed up as bad on Keyboard test. I'm waiting for 20 blacks from the group buy so I thought I'd start, had two dead keys and a bunch that stayed activated when held down for awhile. Been a long time since I did any soldering but I have an adjustable Weller, good solder sucker and wick. Problem is I had the heat up too high at first. Lost one through hole cup and ruined two traces before I realized what I was doing wrong.
Now my problem is I don't know if the board has more than two layers ( top and bottom ) if so then I can use wire to replace the bad traces, I have 30 gage hookup wire and some ribbon cable I could strip down to single pieces. I've been on google all day looking for replacement parts for pcb boards and there are only some very pricey kits to fix the through-hole or make solder pads. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has done this to a board before so and ideas would be helpful. Or if anyone has some leftover repair parts they could part with for a price let me know.

It's only a 2 layer board, other than that... good luck.

Thanks that gives me some options, something to play with anyway.
