New board for work

I have the CM quickfire rapid in MX blues at home and I love it, but the sound won't be tolerated by coworkers.  I heard the browns were similar, so I gave it a shot with the quickfire pro (I need the ten keys at work), but ended up returning it because it just doesn't feel quite as nice as the blues.  I guess its the tactile response that the browns seem to lack.

My question:  Can some more experienced users recommend a board that feels like my QFR with blues, but quieter and with ten keys?

This thing's been getting rave reviews. You can check out the sound clips at their site, it's definitely the quietest (quieter than browns).

I don't own one, but I hear it's got a pretty pronounced tactile bump.

the guy I sit next to at work said he was going to put a formal complaint in about the noise of my mx blue

would slapping on some o-rings work? that would decrease the bottoming out sound, but not sure if it would dampen the click from the slider.

I use a rosewill with reds at work. That way everybody's happy.

I got my employer to purchase about 15 WASD boards with MX Browns at work and everyone has been happy with them for the past six or so months, haven't heard any complaints.

Unless you're working in absolute silence, the noise with browns comes from bottoming out/the keyswitch returning to its normal position (clack!).

I understand your issue isn't with the sound of browns though, but the tactile bump.  If you haven't spent that much time with it, it's definitely something you can get used to and readily perceive, but otherwise it sounds like you might want to take a look at MX Clears.  Not sure which boards come with those off hand, though.  I really like MX Grays too, but I don't know if any boards even come with those.

I brought in my MX Brown for work too and no one complained, though where do you work to get such nice boss that would buy you stuff LOL.

But yeah I think OP want a silent tactile switch.  Maybe like people said MX Clear or Matias QuietPro, all the other tactile switches are super loud.

I use MX blues at work. No-one has complained, but then it is usually not too quiet there.

The bottoming out noise is louder that the tactile click, so O rings would be the way to go if you are overly concerned.

Heh, a colleague is borrowing my vintage blue Alps keyboard, and from across the room it's nowhere near as loud as I thought it would be. Distinctive, but not horribly distracting.

Nice for a brief while to not be the only person with a mechanical board, although I think I actually prefer the sound of my MX brown Filco, as without the clicks the sound is much deeper in tone. If my Quiet Pro proves to be nice and smooth, maybe I'll press for a Loud Pro that lacks the dampers, so that you get that deep Alps clack without the high pitched click.

+1 For Matias Quiet Pro. Best quiet mechanical for the buck.

MX Brown and Clear/White will give you the bump without the click. As suggested, you can O-Ring them if you bottom out.
But unless you don't bottom out, they will be louder than the two above even with O-Rings.

Oh... I always thought they were the same. I'm currently typing on the Deck Legend with Cherry MX1A-C1NW aka clear under the hood. Poping a keycap reveals a white stem.

According to Cherrycorp.com the only clicky ones available are the Blue (MX1A-E1NN, MX1A-E1NW)
