Space invader caps
« on: Fri, 11 January 2013, 23:03:32 »
Where could I find space invader caps, specifically colored ones such as on the specialty boards IE media buttons as on this Right Touch Stillfile http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-Right-Touch-StillFile-RT8251C-Clicky-KeyBoard-SPACE-INVADER-KEY-Switch-/181035365801?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item2a268c75a9 or shall I simply have to be patient to find another donor board?

I thought this was about keycaps with

These on them.

I was more excited, but am still interested.

It's certainly worth snagging a SI board as an enthusiast, and you can find cheaper ones on Ebay pretty reliably for around $30-40. They feel kind of like blues with a softer click. Definitely a unique piece of KB history. I'm probably getting my hopes too high for a replica kit though.

That would be cool :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Guys, this thread is about keyboards with Space Invader key switches produced by NMB, not to be confused with the game Space Invaders.

Read the thread, not just the pictures :)

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.
