CM Storm Quickfire Trigger OEM
« on: Wed, 20 March 2013, 03:12:10 »
Hello, I'm new to geekhack here and I am ready to indulge in my first mechanical keyboard maybe sometimes soon. I've done my research, and I've drawn a conclusion that the CM Storm Trigger is a really good keyboard for me (other than aesthetics, but that doesn't really matter much to me), as it is Costar made, cheap and has macro keys in the extreme rare case I actually need it (and it's also a full keyboard unlike the rapid which is TKL.

Just wondering, but is it still made by Costar (the trigger I mean), as I think I read somewhere that they switched to iOne (can't confirm, can't remember where) I just want to know whether it's still made by Costar. Also, would it be worth waiting for the QuickFire XT as will there be any cons in purchasing the Trigger.

thankyou for your time.

iOne only made the quickfire pro. Trigger is made by costar (confirmed by cm carter) but it does use cherry stabilizers due to the back lighting. No idea if it will be right for you.

As far as I know the CM Storm Trigger has always been made by Costar.  I own a Trigger and use it daily at home and, regardless of who its made by, I can tell you first hand that it's one of the highest quality keyboards around.  Tacky branding aside, the thing is rock solid, has nice backlighting, and the switches (I have brown) feel great.  It's a tank (in a good way).

I've seen someone mention that Trigger was manufactured by iOne at some point—at Reddit. But I feel like it's not really a trustworthy source. Someone has also said that they've switched to Costar stabilizers recently.
