replace switches on KBT Pure
« on: Mon, 25 March 2013, 17:00:20 »
I have a KBT Pure and I just love the form factor and small footprint.  It has Cherry MX Black switches but I would rather have browns, greens or possibly try whites.  Is there anywhere to order brown, green or white switches in bulk?  I've seen some places selling individual switches for upwards of $2.50 per switch!

Also would you recommend me switching or just ordering a new KBT Pure with white switches when available and sell my current one with black switches since the price on them are around $100.00 so it's not too expensive.

Looking forward to your suggestion.

Jeremy

You can often find them on Taobao, Mouser, and Digikey.  I found all my Clears dirt cheap used on Taobao.  I'm lamenting that I didn't buy more.  Greens are tough to find though and generally will require a donor board.

But OP would have to desolder all the LEDs to change stems/springs. My advice is to sell your Pure and wait for this incoming stuff - http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/incoming.php

Edit - Actually it looks like there are no browns incoming and of course no greens, but they will have Pures with whites soon (blue, purple, & green LED).

I have ****loads of brand new PCB-mount MX browns. They are 50cents apiece, just PM me.

My desoldered stock is nearly gone right now, so I will desolder more on demand.
Reaper "frelled" me... Twice... Did he "frell" you too?... *brohug*
I'm camping for a week, and moving twice in a month. I'll get back to you when I can (If I don't then just send me another PM).

Yup, it would be much easier to buy a different board, I was just giving an answer on where to find them.  Perhaps they may do the Pure layout of the GH60?

And I lust after those Pures with Whites and purple LEDs.  Too bad my wallet can't handle them right now.

Haha I'm trying to wait to buy a second board until after I move this Summer (Hawaii or Victoria, BC) and there is definitely a Pure layout for the GH60.

I was thinking I could just de-solder the entire switch and replace the entire switch and solder back.  Is this not possible with the Poker?

It's possible, it just takes a while.
