Identify this Dell for me please!
« on: Thu, 28 March 2013, 12:32:45 »
It looks like an old Quietkey model, but doesn't say it next to the logo.
Is this rubber dome or mechanical? :) And how much does this worth? Good for a collection?
These are brand new....and there are lots, at least 30 of them.(for a very cheap price)

It is not an AT102W, the case above the uppermost keys would be twice as wide.

It looks like it might be a Quiet Key, but it should say "Quiet Key" immediately after the word Dell in lighter letters.

The original ones, made in Malaysia or Thailand with numbers starting with something like R5D... are excellent rubber domes, but the later ones made in China with numbers like 1000 are nothing special.

Neither of mine has that.

Other Dell keyboards that look the same have been pretty bland, typical rubber domes.

By the way, there have been more keyboards than the classic Quiet Key that have been named "Quiet Key". There is a contemporary, black mushy flat rubber-dome keyboard which has that name, but it is not printed on the top of the case.

i asked the seller to take a photo of back of the keyboard. He'll do that tomorrow. So it will be easier to identify it :)

I have GYUR10SK and GYUR26SK, both were made in Malaysia, but while the older one (101key BTW) has individual rubber pieces under each key, the new one (104key) has just one RD sheet. Good luck finding the old one.

looks like a rubber dome i used at work a little while back. i did not like that keyboard. but then again i dont like most keyboards.

if it is rubber dome i say dont bother. and 3-4 bucks for a mechanical doesnt makes sense unless you find a gem at a thrift store where no one knows **** about computer equipment.  in my experience if something is too good to be true it is because it is too good to be true.

I have had several of the "classic" ones, and they have colored individual domes attached to a flat translucent bottom sheet. I have seen light blue, dark blue, and yellow, and they all felt about the same.

If these are the old Malaysian models, new-in-box, then $3 each is a good price. These are about as good as it gets in their genre.

Give them away as "starters"
