Topre Try Out in the Salt Lake City Area?
« on: Sat, 02 November 2013, 02:02:27 »
I'm looking into buying a Topre keyboard, but I have a hard time feeling good about spending all the cash since I can't find anywhere that has a good return policy if I don't like it.

I was wondering if there was anyone around the SLC valley that would be willing to let me come and try their Topre board out for 5 minutes or so, just so I can get an idea of what I would be getting.  I know it's kind of an odd request, but I figured it was worth a shot.  Thanks!

I'll be in Casper, WY next week. I'd be willing to meet you a certain distance between the two places, if you're willing to drive hours to try one out.

In case no one else replies.

I appreciate the offer, but I don't think that I'll be driving up there.  Thanks anyway!

If you do end up getting one and don't like it, you can almost certainly sell it here at almost cost.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm beginning to question this advice. Too many cheapskates lately :P

Although people are still more than prepared to pay wildly inflated prices for certain artistic keycaps.
