Howdy geeky hackers
« on: Fri, 03 May 2013, 12:47:58 »
I have lurked GH for years off and on and have really been getting into it obsessively recently, so I thought I would make an account.

I just got my first mechanical keyboard, a ducky 1087 MX with green alps, and I like much more than I thought I would.  I have a ducky year of the dragon with MX reds on the way that I am pretty excited about as well.

I am interested in doing some keyboard reviews and really want to get into soldering my own boards and doing custom jobs.

Welcome to GH!! I'm also learning to solder and make custom boards myself. I also have a few reviews that I've written. I really enjoy writing reviews and would be glad to talk about things like formatting if you wanted to chat.

Enjoy your stay ^__^

I would like that.

Did you have general soldering experience before you started working on boards?  I haven't soldered anything since I was a kid haha...
I have found some decent how to videos on youtube but, I'm trying to get as many resources at possible to teach myself.

As far as reviews I would like to do sample typing videos.  I really enjoy watching them on youtube and it seems like it would be a useful resource for people who are trying to check out a specific board / switch combination.

I would highly recommend checking out the Living Soldering Thread for more info on soldering. And I have a bit of experience that is related to an internship I had. I soldered daily for 6 months so I feel very comfortable soldering.

And more video reviews would be cool. I like writing so I mostly do text reviews but video is a really cool medium.
