They show up for sale once in a while, usually on UK car sites. Import into the US isn't too difficult, as long as the vehicle is older than 21 years (EPA and DOT exempt).
Spare parts would be an issue, but with the advances in CNC and maker-bot technology, I think there will always be some options for recreating parts even if the originals can't be sourced.
Anyways, didn't mean to thread-crap so egregiously! My brother works as a field biologist, he says that 80%+ of the field crew drive Toyota pickups. Sheer durability is the main selling point, and if they break down they can be easily fixed.
I think Canadians can also get Toyota HiLux trucks, one of those with a diesel engine is on my bucket list of vehicles I'd love to own.
