People have recommended the Sensei RAW. If you can spare the dough, I think you'll like it.

I have previously owned a Steelseries Xai which uses the same sensor and just yesterday ordered a Steelseries Sensei Raw (rubberized)

I can attest to the quality of the tracking as well as the awesome feel of the mouse. I am big on experimenting with different brands and stuff and the only mouse that even comes close to the Steelseries mice so far would have to be the Razer Naga IMO.

Bottom line - it tracks perfectly. They've been using the same sensor for quite a while and there are claims of acceleration problems online, but I have never encountered these issues because I am a pretty high-sensitivity user. (no large swiping movements)
i type, therefore i geekhack

I have one, and it's probably one of my favourite mice so far.

There are a few minor issues, though;
Ambidextrous buttons, so I tend to accidentally press the right side buttons by accident, but this isn't a problem if they're unbound
Laser sensor, so slight hardware accel, but really not noticeable in practice, at least not for me, and I do use it for precision FPS games

What I really like about it is the software is nice and tidy, it looks really good and while it'd be awesome if the silver part was actual metal, it's still a really nice surface since it's fairly grippy, but it doesn't wear and go ugly. Unlike the rubber coating you find on most mice which tend to start showing wear after just a days use.

Also; it's not really "pro grade", most pros generally don't use the top-range mice as they're expensive, use laser sensors which offer no real advantage, only drawbacks, and they often need software installed to get the most out of them. Pros and other serious precision gamers often prefer mice that are easy to use, if they can avoid any software at all that's a huge plus (physical dpi and polling switches underneath the mouse as on the Abyssus) since that means getting set up at LANs and tournaments is fairly easy, optical sensors as those are generally perform better than laser without hw accel, tracking speed etc, and it's also a plus if they're cheap since that means it's not as annoying if you have to replace them(until you get on a team with a sponsor, if you happen to use sponsor mice then you just get new ones for free I assume)

Still, despite not being "pro grade", that's not really all that relevant outside the competitive scene, and I've found the Sensei to be one of the more enjoyable mice to use so far of the ones I've tried.

I would make sure to get a mouse that matches your current grip style too:

Optical (Avago-3800) is better than Laser (Avago-9500) but it's a minute difference.
Otherwise, you should choose based on form factor. It'd be best if you could demo the mouse first before you decide to buy it since it's on the expensive side of mice.

I have had the sensei for about a year, and the metal coating is chipping off pretty bad. Despite this it has been one of the better mice I have ever owned. If you buy one you should probably get the raw one with a rubberized coating.

Been considering the Sensei for a long time but I too have been unsure if it is worth the money.

I have a RAW and am pretty happy with it.. no real complaints... not sure why you'd go for the more expensive version when all it actually does is add needless weight

I've had it. I've tried the Frost blue version, which is the same as Raw version of it (Correct me if I'm wrong), it feels A LOT different than the original Sensei. Sensei was one of the most amazing mouse I've used. I have since sold it and is using Logitech G400 now. I will be changing mouse soon(again) though.

I have the Sensei Raw and I'm really loving the shape. It works with pretty much any grip, e.g. I use the fingertip grip while playing FPS games and palm (or claw) grip the mouse while casually browsing the web.

The only gripe though as vun pointed out is its laser sensor with its inherent acceleration. Thankfully the acceleration is minute enough that I don't notice it while playing (precision) FPS games, too. :)

Don't get the rubber one, it's crap.

Either get the RAW or the Glossy one it'll be pretty neat.

i used it before, i liked it then, features and all.

however, the scroll wheel squeaked after several months of use.
i rma'd it, got a new one as replacement... same issue after some time.
switched back to logitech g700
