New mouse and mousepad
« on: Mon, 08 July 2013, 10:51:42 »
Hi guys,I need a new mouse+mousepad.I use a claw grip with my pinky and ring finger sliding on the mousepad.
I want a cheap but good optical mouse so I was thinking about Razer Abyssus Mirror (35Euro).
I'm not sure about the mousepad, right now I'm using a SS sensei with a SS 4hd and I really like the glide.
I can buy a Razer Goliathus for 20-23 Euro which is actually quite a lot so I was thinking if I need to spend that much on a mousepad, why not buy an Artisan one?
I prefer to have the same glide for vertical and horizontal, which one do you suggest?
Thank you and sorry for the bad english  :D

I highly recommend an Abyssus. Only problem is that it might be too small for some hands. I'm currently using this at work.

I just got the Razer DA 2013, and although I'm not a competitive gamer, I really like the size and feel.  I'm a claw grip as well, and was a bit worried that the DA would be too small, but it's perfect.  A little light for my taste, but tracking is superlative.

I splurged on an Artisan mouse pad, and it's amazing.  Highly recommended.

For your grip I think the Abyssus would be great, but I'm not sure I'd get a Goliathus if you like the HD pads as the glide is pretty different. A glass pad might be nice, something like the SS I-2 or one of the Artisan pads with glass beads or whatever it's got.

It's a tad bit smaller than the SS sensei, and I don't have big hands so it should be fine

Yes I know the DA 2013 is really good but I don't want to spend this much (69Euro) and I don't really like side buttons..What kind of Artisan mousepad do you have?

Artisan has Shiden and Shidenkai,I wonder how is the feel on the hand since as I stated before I glide 2 fingers on the mousepad.Does anyone has these mousepads?
Thank you guys for all the fast replies :D

I got the  Artisan Hayate.  It's a bit... textured, but very smooth, the mouse glides across it with only a hint of friction.  I've not felt any adverse effects from keeping fingers on it when moving the mouse, the surface feels like microscopic nubs of polished glass.  Hard to describe!

By the way, Large is quite large indeed, and their description of Soft is a bit misleading - I don't think it's got much give at all.

Check out Func Ms-3. Though its a huge one, but more optimized for claw.

That's funny, I never realized that I do the exact same things (pink & ring finger) until I read your post!

And your English was just fine, nothing to apologize for!

Wow that seems really good but it's too expensive for me.I think I'll go with Razer Abyssus, but I have still no idea about the mousepad.I have been reading about a lot of tracking problems with the Shiden especially with fast movements.

But if you like the glide on your 4HD, why not stick with it or get the 9HD if you want something larger?

I'm a strange guy,I can't stand to see Razer and Steelseries together because it would drive me crazy :(

Ah, I can understand that. In that case you should consider swapping the LED on the Abyssus for a green one or just remove it(which is what I did), as the blue glow isn't all that pretty, and if you get a Goliathus the blue and green would look terrible together. Razer mice with the green glow on a Goliathus looks slick, though.

The shiden has a really nice surface, its really fast but I also touch my thumb, ring finger, and pinky along the mousemat so its perfect for me.

You lose ~1m/s of tracking speed on the surface, but its fine with my razer krait ~35cm/360.

I have been using the DA for a while now and haven't had any problems with it. The mouse is light which,  might not be a good thing, but it feels great in my hand. As for a mouse pad I would also recommend the Goliathus because it is a huge pad and seems to work really well. Washed mine a couple times now and it still is holding up like the first time I took it out of the box.

The DA2013 is actually quite excellent. I use two different DPI settings and liftoffs for FPS and MOBA with this mouse and customizing the two side buttons is pretty cool, too. I have to warn though: Synapse is a pretty annoying constantly update program. I also don't have any spin issues and it is smooth with a good mouspad (I use the Goliathus)...I wouldn't buy anymore Razer products though, but I do vouch for the mouse.

I would highly recommend the G9x for claw grippers and the Artisan Hayate for gaming.
