White anodizing
« on: Mon, 24 June 2013, 18:47:35 »
Apparently it IS possible to get a very near white, but it's an expensive and lengthy process through bead blasting or acid etching. Presumably NASA has figured out another way to do it as well but the issue being the color molecules are 'unstable' and therefore don't last very long, i.e. wear off. Perhaps someday the dream of a pure white aluminum case will be realized, in the meantime here's a cool little article describing why it's scientifically impossible to create true white anodized aluminum.

Very cool article. Too bad white anodizing is so hard to do. Oh well, at least aluminum case owners have the option to paint or powder coat it

Yea, I ran into this article when I was looking at anodizing for my case. Very cool and easy to read post for someone who doesn't know a lot about anodizing
