[IC] Vices Keycap Set (Alcohol, Pot, Shrooms, Dice, Women, Cigar)

This is an interest check for a 6-keycap set that I've named the Vices Set. The purpose here is to fine tune the original concept and design, add new suggestions, and see how many people would be interested in this set. I've tentatively been planning on these replacing the Insert, Home, PgUp, etc., keys but that may change depending on what you all want.

If anyone has other colors they'd like to see let me know.

I have no experience designing keycaps so I welcome all suggestions. If anyone has a silhouette for any of these vices that they believe looks better I would love to see it. The resolution of each cap is 550x550, I'm not sure if that is high enough for keycap printing but it wouldn't be hard to scale up.

I'm interested in potential keycap materials and printing methods that would do these keys justice.

If there is enough interest hopefully someone more experienced can run the group buy, but if not I am willing to do the research and run it myself.

There was that woman key which was a window key and the LED shined through it, think it was a ducky key, does anyone remember this? Also the key could be made using that material (again someone jump in here) that Techkeys use to make the Nuke and Cone Keys?

Funny you should mention that; the thought crossed my mind but I wrote it off because I figured there wouldn't be many LSD fans here on GH (or anywhere for that matter, ****'s hard to find these days if you aren't savvy with Tor).

That and I couldn't think of an elegant way to do an LSD blotter silhouette. If you have any suggestions on how to transfer an LSD blotter to a silhouette I'd love to give it a try.

Yes some of these individual themes have been done, but never together as a set (as far as I know).

Those keys don't match or look good near each other. Those would work if you wanted to pick one vice for your escape key or something, but I would like to proudly display all my vices together in a tasteful way. The CC pot leaf is $200 on ebay, that woman key is tacky, the beer and dice keys are cool on their own but don't jive with the rest.

Are doubleshots considered superior to dye sub? If so would you recommend simplifying the designs to go doubleshot or stick with it and go dye sub?

Doubleshots have cleaner lines and more contrast.  All dyesubs are not created equal...in my opinion SP makes the best dyesubs, but they are expensive, and colors can only be printed on white keys.

Yeah I've seen this and I'm not a fan. The pot leaf looks far too rounded. Not big on the green on green either.

I like the idea of a cigar, that would round out the set nicely I think. I'll try and whip one up when I get home.

Hmmm, if there would be that much quality loss on the pot leaf then I'd hate to think how the dice or the woman would look on doubleshots... maybe dye sub would be the way to go for this set....

Yea it's the razor edges of the leaves and the small details where each leaf meets in the center that would cause issues with double shots. I think the leaf in the stoner set could have been a bit bigger and would have looked better. The girl would more or less have to be just a silhouette and the smaller details of her body would be lost in a doubleshot. If you like back on white then dye sub is your best bet in this case.

They got a great amount of detail into that reddit doubleshot, I would have to smooth out the jagged leaves of the pot leaf and maybe thicken a few of the detail lines on the woman. I think these would look amazing as doubleshots after seeing how that reddit key came out.

Double shots are in my opinion superior. However another thing you need to consider is that double shots require manufacturing a separate mold for each legend. These molds will cost a bit of money to be made so you will need to raise more interest and reach certain numbers as far as quantity goes to dilute those costs. These quantities are measured in tiers eg. Tier 1: 0-49 sets, tier 2: 50-99 sets etc.(numbers not exact) as you reach higher tiers the cost per set goes down. Sometimes it's difficult to reach these numbers and it gets pretty expensive when you are doing sets with 6 legends as apposed to one single key. The benefit is once the molds are made they are forever and you can mix and match different color combinations in future runs of the set if there is interest for it.

I'm glad you agree, I just added a cigar to the mix! Not sure what you are referring to by cash, is that slang for weed where you are? And you also have a superb taste in avatars my friend.

Nice! You should make the dice a hard 6 though (3-3). Yeah, I play craps (but not those sucker bets in the middle of the table)! An 11 total would be good too. That's a winning throw on the come out, and doesn't hurt you if a point's already established. This is assuming you're betting the come line. Let's not even talk about those don't side betters!

Oh, also, your face values are incorrect. On a 6-sided die, any two opposite sides added together total 7. So the 6-1 on adjacent sides is a no-go.

Holy cow, the infilled one looks sooo bad . I noticed that as well when I was examining the close up of the red biohazard keycap that qwerkeys sells. The edges are a hot mess.

I updated the OP with a playing card key, i like it better than the dice.

   

I also fixed the cigar so the smoke is coming out the correct end.

The pink set would look awesome with the Miami (Vice) set Bunnylake will soon set up in his vendor forum. They would be perfect as F-Keys. Maybe you could combine these GBs to save costs?

MOQ 50 keycaps, £2 per key up to 100, then £1.60 per key up to 200, 500+ £1.10

so this would mean a minimum of 50 caps per legend. So 50 sets minimum need to be produced.
