Anyone fix this themselves? Or better to just have it done at a shop?

FYI, if you very carefully use a razor blade, the rectangle kind with the thicker end at the top, it works much better than the plastic pry tool.  The blade is thinner, stronger, and has more surface area.  Just be very careful, and don't slice yourself open.  Whatever you do, don't use a screwdriver to pop it out, you will be almost guaranteed to leave scratches and/or chips.

Good to know, very helpful.

Dunno if DIY is better than a shop, maybe different quality materials? I live in Silicon Valley and a shop just quoted $60 plus tax. Or get iPhone 5, or wait 2 months and get new model. I broke it at very bottom right corner, might be fun to live with in a ghetto dirt of way for a month. Maybe trade in ding doesn't bang you as hard as the cost of repair, lol. The phone should have broken at least 4 times in the last 34 months, Maybe start using a case! LOL

I replaced the screen on my iPhone 4 when I cracked it.... took me about an hour and a half and it was easily one of the most daunting tasks I've ever done in my life LOL. Be very careful, and watch some videos on it on youtube and look at ifixit as has been suggested. Best advice I can give you is if you DIY..... make a diagram for all the screws you're going to be taking out of the thing (there's a specific video on youtube that suggested this and shows in great detail the screws that need to be taken out, best advice EVARRRR).

I once changed my iPad screen using supplies from ifixit. It works great now.
