First standalone keyboard I personally bought was my Unicomp. Before that I was using my laptop board, and before that the boards on our family computer forever and a half ago.

I've always thought that it would be cool to mod the BWU so that it's no so prone to failure.

I'll probably be banned for saying this, but I really like the way it looks...

So I'll talk about any keyboard, besides I'm already married and not interested in meeting women.

I'm not embarassed that the Blackwidow got me into mechanical boards. Everyone has to start somewhere. Had a Blackwidow for almost a year then bought a Filco Majestouch 104.

Lucky you, CPT!

Your BW lasted a whole year.

Mine got me through four months. Now it's only good to short and give me a bsod, or to desolder.

LOL original saitek eclipse for me.

Upon reflection, I think the thread title is a little misleading.  The first keyboard I talked about was the first one I purchased separately (the first one not bundled with a system), and when I used it at work I recall it was a bit embarrassing to explain why it was all lit up.

Since then I don't think any of my keyboards have caused me any chagrin, okay maybe that SkiData board...  People who work with me tend to be interested in my collection, especially since I loan them out at every opportunity.

Maybe a better thread title would be;

What was the first keyboard you liked to show off?

Oh, but, embarrassingly enough, I did talk about it. Lol I showed it off to my junior high friends. That thing was a hoot until I got a short in the cord. As young and naive as I was back then I just tossed it. :[

Never felt embarrassed by my keyboards,  even when I had old poorly functioning rubber domes.

I was never really embarrassed to talk about my keyboards even when I used really crappy ones. I never had a "gaming keyboard" but went straight from normal rubber dome keyboards and laptop keyboards to mechanical and never looked back. Started of with a Steelseries 7G with blacks. Ended up with a couple of Filcos with browns.

That is how it goes.

My first was a Race. I really loved it when I first got it but now I'm not a huge fan of it. I can't put any sets on it without it looking stupid because of the odd shaped caps.

My first keyboard that is real is razer bw(not bwu), after that I got a ducky shine2. Now, I am using filco ninja. I don't thank razer and ducky is a bad board, but if they compared to filco, filco is much better.(The feel of typing)

Yeah, I don't know why pink keycaps are so awesome, they just are.  You know the advice I really want to give to a noob is to just get an Otaku HHKB Pro 2 Type-S and a set of Blank Pink PBT keycaps, right from the start.  It might seem crazy expensive to jump into mech keyboards by spending nearly $500, but in the long run it could up saving a small fortune, because the HHKB Pro 2 Type S is where you're going to wind up anyway, so why not skip the middle thousands of dollars you're going to spend before you find the HHKB Pro 2 Type-S.  But I don't think any of the noobs would believe me, so I haven't given this advice to anyone.  Or haven't I just done so?   :p

But they'll never know why it's better with no point of reference for comparison. I have still never touched a Topre board of any kind but Im still going to buy one. It's on my to do list.

My first keyboards I cared about were a thinkpad keyboard and Logitech UltraX. I have used lots of more or less random stuff since then, but only other thinkpad keyboards, SteelSeries 6Gv2 (w/ Cherry DS), Noppoo Choc Mini and TypeMatrix 2030 somehow stand out.

None. I've never been embarrassed about any of the keyboards I've owned, even that stupid, all rubber foldable keyboard that I owned for a little bit.

The first keyboard that I cared about was the first generation Logitech G15 (the one mentioned on page 1 of this topic).
