The joy of typing on a... Quickfire Stealth?
« on: Tue, 06 August 2013, 20:22:56 »
After trying a few keyboards I keep coming back to my QFS with brown switches. I think it's my "Topre"! There is something about the feel and sound that I haven't found with other keyboards I've purchased. I've tried a poker II and wasd v2 both with browns and are both very nice keyboards but neither have that deep clack and rebound sound like the QFS. The sound is seriously orgasm inducing and I can't help but feel elation while typing. I'm not sure if the difference in feeling is placebo since they all have the same switches. I assume that a QFR and Filco with browns would have the same feel/sound? Has anyone else out there experienced something similar?

wow, that's intense.

Not from a keyboard, no.

Edit: In all seriousness. I'll let you know when I get my Topre board in 2 days whether it's as orgasmic as everyone else around here thinks it is :) (except for tp4tissue ofc)

QFR/Filco won't really have the same sound. Similar feel maybe, but the sound can vary quite a bit between boards.

This may sound weird but, I love typing on my poker 2 with browns. Awesome feel. Awesome clack.

My keys do not really clack, and even my Topre does not really thock.

Must be the room's acoustics.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I should reiterate what I like about the sound, the clack itself is exactly the same as the wasd v2 but the sound of the key returning to its resting position is quite unique. Maybe I should record the sound? I think I will still keep the WASD v2 as it is quite a sexy keyboard :)

I like the Stealth edition but I don't notice any difference compared to other boards.. other than my QFS being Blues vs. Browns/Blacks on other boards lol.
Maybe just placebo effect? I don't know lol

Glad to see this, I'm thinking about getting a QFS once I sell my three boards in the classifieds.

Nah its not placebo,  i listened to some mx brown videos on youtube and the filcos and qfrs all sounded like my stealth.  The other brown keyboards sounded quite different. I had a qfr with blues and the clickiness overwhelmed the other keyboard sounds so i wouldnt call it comparable to the blues.

Eitherway,  i just sold it to my friend and bought a fc660c topre board and a fc660m brown board. I really want a 60% board and Fwiw, the discrete arrow and fn key layer seems way more logical than the hhkb or pokerII

I like the Stealth edition but I don't notice any difference compared to other boards.. other than my QFS being Blues vs. Browns/Blacks on other boards lol.
