Ducky Shine 3 - Spacebar doesn't work!!!
« on: Thu, 15 August 2013, 14:42:05 »
After months of waiting, i finally got my ducky shine 3.  Blue LED with Mx Blue.  After i opened the box, i noticed the space bar doesn't click like mx blues should. also, it would sometimes stick...

After plugging it in, it doesn't register at all.  Does anyone have any suggestions what i can do before i return it.  It looks like it is sold out at mechanical keyboards.  so i would rather try and fix it before waiting months for restock...

such a bummer....

Another member here also had some spacebar sticking issues, but as far as I know the switch itself was fine. Have you tried removing the space bar and putting it back on?

And is it only the spacebar that doesn't register?

Make sure the USB on the underside of the board is plugged in all the way! I've heard some users had to use a bit of elbow grease to get it in completely.

Ducky with MX blues might have MX green under the space bar (both mine do, albeit Shine 1).

On one of my boards a couple of MX blue switches do not click all the time.

Perhaps this switch just isn't clicky - might need to be mashed a bit (pressed a few hundred/few thousand times) to wear it in.

OK !! for my suggest ,

1. pull out keycap in space bar
2. check the stabilize , use pliers ( just like http://tinyurl.com/kxodrwk) , check stabilize moving is good or not !!
3. install keycap ,
4. test again

Hope will help you , if you still feel stick.... return to distributor , I think will be better :)

To find out if the switch works, you can always remove the keycap (the space bar itself) and just press the switch.  If it still doesn't register, then the switch or PCB is likely faulty.

The Ducky Shine II has a crappy cable management thing... When I got my Shine II I had to ditch the braided cable because when I  flexed it to plug it in the cable must have snapped an internal wire... and it would only work intermittently.

That's a damn shame about ur shine III though. It's not that hard to do some QC on 104 keys  ^-^

Hopefully the shipping gods are with you and give you a speedy warranty replacement..
