Hello!
« on: Mon, 09 September 2013, 21:12:55 »
Hello there :)

I suppose I'm new to this forum, but I've had a mechanical keyboard for 3 years now (Filco Majestouch 2 w/Browns). Sadly that keyboard died - the shift keys for some reason no longer work (verified by testing on multiple machines). I might try to get it fixed at some point, but I figure now is as good a time as any to get a new keyboard. That being said does anyone have any suggestions for a tkl?

I'm not all that picky though to be honest, I generally just want the best quality I can get for 100 or so bucks. I saw there is a Ducky G2 Pro on Massdrop and have been giving that some thought. I've also been looking at other boards, Pure Pro, CM TK, etc... I'm thinking Red switches this time. I guess all in all I need some direction before throwing down some cash. Any advice would be much appreciated! And so far these forums have been awesome (mainly I have spent most of my time in the reviews section haha).

Welcome to GH.

Best quality for $100?  I dunno really, but probably not Ducky.  Ducky used to be horrible, and I don't think they have gotten much better.  I think the consensus pick for best bang for the buck is the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid.  $69 here:  http://www.amazon.com/CM-Storm-QuickFire-Rapid-Mechanical/dp/B0068INSUM

Also the Leopold FC200R is a very good keyboard, and it's only $89.  And you can get it in MX Brown, Blue, Red, and Black. http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,tenkeyless

And if you can find one in stock, you might like the Leo FC660MC/NB for $104:  http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,compact

I would highly recommend either of the Leo's.  I have never owned a CM Quickfire, but they seem to be very popular.
