New Leopold FC600R Tenkeyless made by ... Costar (!?)
« on: Fri, 11 October 2013, 18:12:39 »
http://www.leopold.co.kr/

Certainly explains the declining stockpile of FC200R's at EK.

I find the FC700R better looking, but it's barely available outside S.Korea/Indonesia, it will probably be even harder to get it now....I do like the new costar stabs though.

I agree, FC700R is much better looking and more unique.  That FC600R looks very generic.

Simplistic does not necessarily mean generic.

Does that mean Leopold is finally going to have regular placed stem locations?

Also I wonder why they switched OEM.  Maybe CM Storm QFR is killing them in sales.  It's funny because Leopold used to be the cheaper Filco alternatives, but I think QFR/XT took that spot over.

Would be nice...it is definitely a LOT cheaper...I mean, really does just look like a generic keyboard with a Leopold brand...

Are they ABS keycaps or PBT?

Regular stems would be nice.  That is about the only thing against recommending Leopold to a newbie - potential difficulty findings replacement keycaps.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Well, Cherry profile keycaps will work for everything but the spacebar..and there are only a handful of Space bars that do fit...

For people that don't care about that though...the 700r was a pretty good stock keyboard..

+1 to Leopold for finally going with normal spacebar stem locations, -1 for going to costar stabilizers, -1 for moving the menu key one key over for no reason, -1 style.

Doesn't seem to have much appeal, very generic and will most likely cost more than a QFR.

FC700R is a much better looking board.

Maybe it'll cost the same as the QFR and they'll just hope that the font will win people over.

I don't care how cheap this is - I'd still rather have a FC700R.

I saw this a few days ago as well. My first thought was a younger brother of the FC700R, i.e. not as good looking and not-as-great caps. The price is pretty good though, 89000 Won is approx. $80-85USD.

If only Leopold did a revision of the FC700R by "fixing" the spacebar stem locations while still using Cherry stabilizers..

White FC700R, in my opinion, is the nicest looking stock board available. Gets everything right, too... TKL, PBT, choice switches... Man, if only I could get my hands on one of them in the States :(
