How does one mod their Poker II into a backlit version?
« on: Sat, 05 October 2013, 01:23:38 »
I've seen some pics from geekhack media where people mod their Poker II into a backlit version.

I heard that Poker II's PCB was designed to have that capability to begin with, just need to get the solder off the LED holes.  But aside from soldering in LED, is there anything else we need to do?

Do we need to solder in resisters too?  Also how do we turn it on and off?  Does the default controller already have that function built in?

I might be getting ahead of myself since I don't have a Poker II yet, but I'm buying one very soon !  :D

(Once they get back in stock)

I'm fairly sure you can desolder the holes and simply add leds. As for control, it's similar to Pure's VBN keys, but forget exactly which three it is. They're listed in the pdf :)

PS - I'm about to have something like this done for a Poker II as well.

I believe there are resistors already on the pcb.

So just simply desolder the holes and solder in the LED and that's it?

Woah !!!

I think all the Poker II owners should do this lol.

EDIT:  Found the manual.

FN + V = Toggle Backlit On/Off
FN + C = Reduce Brightness
FN + B = Increase Brightness
