Hybrid Clear Switches
« on: Mon, 02 December 2013, 01:19:50 »
I recently got an MX clear board and love it. I also love my MX green board. However it seems that Greens still require more activation force which I like. Has anyone put a Green spring with a clear slider to make a heavier clear? Ive only seen panda clears with the black slider. Has this been done? If so what are they called?  Im thinking about doing this to my board.

Greens use the same springs as MX Blacks, as far as I know.   So you would get Panda Clears, which have been done, and some people like them.  Black springs would give heavier actuation force but lighter bottoming out, based on what CPBBadAss described and also based on the graph here:

Depending on your style of typing, you could like that more or less.  I like stock Clears for lighter actuation and cushiony tougher bottoming out, where basically I don't bottom out on them at all as a light touch typist.

Nah it won't make them heavier.

Photoelectric is spot on.

I can take one apart to check, but I think greens (and whites) use the same spring as clears.

I just put springs into 100 whites to make them lighter, but not as light as blues. Really tones them down for me.

I thought it's Black springs in Greens, because I've seen it said many times that putting Black springs into Blues = exactly Greens.

No... green and white have same spring as GREY. So if you put green spring with clear stem you will have tactile grey.
