+1 for more Mandelas.  +0 for more demiks.  Can this world handle more than one?  I don't think so.  'twould be chaos.

Nice shout out demik, very cool. I pretty sure they are going to make today a public holiday here. It's been a long time coming but still sad to see him go. One of the few people who really understood what it means and what it takes to truly be a rainbow nation. RIP

+1 to the above.

He did wht was best for the country (and EVERY person living in it) instead of seeking revenge for being "opressed" and mistreated. I just wish the current leaders of the country would do the same, but unfortunately people like him are very rare indeed.

Some things he instituted have run their course and should be stopped, like affirmative action for employment. It's been 18 years, things are balanced now, no group should be given preferential treatment any more, but... It's pushing qualified and valuable people out the country. Funny thing is it's actually against the constitution, too.

We miss you Madiba. RIP.

British Biased Corporation, im even surprised they recognise it. He did some good work though.
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

affirmative action should be removed everywhere as it is against equal opportunities.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
