Hello from Spain
« on: Fri, 06 December 2013, 17:55:58 »
Hello Everybody.

I'm a 40 y.old computer programming teacher in vocational training. I had the luck of owning a IBM model M back in my youth,  I got used to that feeling. At that moment I thought most keyboards would be like that. When I changed my computer, I bougth a new keyboard that was not so good but neither that bad. I got used to mey new keyboard and forgot the IBM MODEL M. In my next computer, I went down to a worse keyboard, but got used too.

Finally, in 1999 I  bought a new computer and was on of the lasts person in getting a mechanical keyboard 6312-TA (alps clicky switches). No more mechanical clicky keyboards were sold that I know to regular users (as told by many retails sellers). That keyboard reminded me of my ancient Ibm Model - M (which I lost) and got happy of using that new clicky keyboard. In 2001 I started working in my first highschool where I found a large quantity of old Ibm Model-M which to my surprise were being retired and stocked to be thrown away together with aging computing equipment.
I took one of those keyboards just for the fun of dissasembling it and exploring the inners. After some usage I could not dare to damage it. So I kept it and used regularly, though it wasn't my main keyboard.
Over these years I've bought cheap keyboards and some of them have broke. From time to time I picked up again my Acer or Ibm and used it for some weeks, but my wife can't bear the clicky sound in the nights, so I had to go back to cheap membrane keyboards. Some years ago, I decided to spend a greater amount of money in a good silent keyboard, and stop wasting money into cheap uncomofortable short-lasting keyboards, and got myself a "Logitech Dinovo for laptop" which is a rare high quality laptop-feeling keyboard, but it's totally full-size. It has been my main keyboard for about 3-4 years, and still is.

I met an old friend at a recycle disposal building who was going to throw an IBM Model M away. What a fluke!! I got it and took home. AFter some cleaning it worked flawlessly. I sold it, but the time I spent with it before selling it made me eager to use again my old IBM or any other quality keyboard. And that desire has pushed me to study and discover the wonderful world of quality mechanical keyboards.

I'm using my Acer and logitech right now (depending on the noise I can make at certain day times), But I wish to add one or two radical different keyboards to have fun changing from one to another.  My very first wishes is to try the cherry MX blue switches and later, any other of those Cherry non-clicky switches. I would like to have also a Cherry MX-Green keyboards, but I've been unable to find them in the spanish layout.

Thanks.
