Gateway Cherry MX-compatible doubleshots in pearl/pebble
« on: Tue, 17 December 2013, 16:38:09 »
I got a Gateway 2000 Anykey today, and before I strip it for the keycaps, I decided to see whether anybody wanted the keyboard. I have not even cleaned it yet.

Edit - sorry if I got your hopes up - MX-compatible keycaps - rubber dome with plungers.

Caps are doubleshot with nice but rather light legends. The keyboard has a lot of unusual features such as a second set of "F" keys in all pebble, and a full set of directionals.

$37 shipped domestic for the whole keyboard, $25 shipped for the keys only (if I pull the keys I will clean them for you).

PM me if you are interested.

I don't know much about Cherry minutiae.

Will somebody tell me which profile these are considered to be?

Constant radii and that flat border along the bottom means DCS-profile, not Cherry-profile.

That's right those are DCS, made by Comptec (SP predecessor). Any keys required for different keyboard can get perfect match from SP.

If this is anything like the Gateway keyboard with MX-compatible keycaps I have, the longer keys (those that would have a stabiliser) will not fit standard Cherry mounts.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Good to know!

If these don't sell, I will put them away for the future and fill in from SP if I need to. Currently, the only Cherry boards I have are G80-11900s and I think I like those caps better anyway, but the pebble color is nice for an accent.
